What does “tREK” mean?
The tREK ministry began with the vital words spoken by Jesus in Matthew 7:13-
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road (tREK) that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
The path that Christ spoke of is one which is becoming a less traveled (and less popular) road in our society. This scripture reminds us that we are taking steps of faith and going against the flow, but in the context of the Body, this scripture encourages us that we are not walking alone.
The lower case “t” represents the cross.
What is tREK?
tREK is a new ministry which is supported, lead and gifted to our community by the Gig Harbor Nazarene Church. Meeting Saturday nights at 6pm for an informal service is only the beginning of this important ministry. By networking people together and encouraging the use of their spiritual gifts inside and outside the church, tREK will create purpose and a sense of belonging among the participants, while bearing witness among the people of Gig Harbor and the surrounding areas.
Our Mission:
To offer a time of worship, Bible teaching and fellowship that is informal and Spirit lead.
To focus on reaching young adults and younger families, but not limited to any age group.
To create purpose and fruit through the lives of a younger generation by focusing outward to our community.
To show love to the broken and lost by drawing them into community and a real relationship with Jesus Christ.
What can you do to help tREK?
First and foremost, this ministry needs deliberate and consistent prayer. If the Lord should lead this (as is the desire of the leadership team), we have to hear his voice and respond in obedience, freely submitting our will to His. This is hard to do. And, if the Lord is leading there will inevitably opposition from which protection and victory is needed. Will you commit to partnering in prayer for this ministry?
